Organization Exercises

We offer three organization exercises that will serve as the foundation of your comprehensive wealth plan.  The first is a Confidential Data Inventory that will help you identify all your financial resources so they can be gathered together and organized.  The data inventory has an additional locator feature.  After you have organized your materials the data inventory has a place where you can record where you file your documents. 

The second exercise is the Goal Setting Exercise.  This exercise allows you to discover your financial life goals and helps you prioritize them.  This becomes the centerpiece of our relationship.  Once we know what you want to achieve we will help you arrange you financial life in a manner to achieve your goals.

The third exercise and quite possibly most important is the Policy Statement Exercise.  What distinguishes HWA from other financial planners is our ability to write the best plan for you.  Our secret is our policy statement exercise.  Most financial planners have a bad habit of imposing their own ideals on their clients which often leaves clients with an uneasy feeling and a plan they didn’t want.  While there is an infinite amount of ways to achieve your goals, the right financial plan for you is the plan you will implement that achieves your goals with your values in mind.  We often use a bowling analogy to demonstrate how we write financial plans.  If your goals represent the bowling pins then, your values in the form of your policy statements, are the gutter guards that help us not to roll a gutter ball.    The policy statements have many other benefits.  They also serve as bad advice insurance.  When you have identified your values you will know when you get advice that doesn’t fit your value system.  Lastly, is serves as a communication device between couples on how each of you want your finances managed.    

Organizational Binder

Being financially organized is fundamental to financial health.  One of the most beneficial things you can provide your family is being organized.  Unfortunately, being financially organized seems to be most important when tragedy strikes.  When a spouse or parent passes away, it is often up to those who are grieving to try to put together the pieces together amidst one of the darkest times of your life.  Leave your spouse or children a great gift, get yourself organized.
